Memorial Biography

Michael Kay Moore was born November 3, 1958, at Grady Memorial Hospital to Mrs. Agnes Lee Moore and was blessed with 62 years of life. For most of his life, Michael resided in Scottdale, Georgia with his mother. Michael made his heavenly transition in the early hours of Sunday, May 16, 2021, in the embrace of his Mother. Michael matriculated at Avondale High School. Michael was a determined and hard worker since his younger years growing up in Scottdale with his mother, brother, and sister. Michael worked as a bag boy at Smith’s Market in Avondale from his early years in high school and later worked with various trucking and moving companies. Michael, affectionately known as “Mike”, was known for his infectious smile and making people laugh. As a young man, Mike gave his life to Christ and was baptized at the St. John Apostolic Holiness Church in Tucker, GA, where the late Bishop Clarence E. White presided as Pastor. Mike was very active with his Church and even sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Choir in high school. Mike had a silly side to him and could brighten your day by doing just that: being silly. He was best known for his Geraldine (Flip Wilson) impersonation, which he oftentimes would do as a high school senior at Avondale High. He cared about others and would show it by doing even the smallest of things to help and make others smile. Mike loved his mother and knew, more than anything, that she loves him! During his brief illness, his Mother ensured that he was covered with much prayer and well cared for no matter the medical facility. Her final act of love towards her son was to make sure that he was in a loving place, as God was calling him home. Mike passed in their home, in his room, holding her hand, and with his family nearby. Mike leaves to cherish his life and memory: Agnes L. Moore, his devoted and beloved mother; his siblings: C. Jeffrey Moore of Atlanta, GA and Doris Moore Edwards of Dallas TX; a nephew, Maurice Moore of Decatur, GA; a niece, Candace Moore McGuire; host of great-nieces, great-nephews, along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
